POSITION TITLE:Purchasing Associate - BPI of South Dakota Building Materials Branch - SF Branch - Sioux Falls, SD

BASIC FUNCTION: Purchasing Associate is responsible for buying and supplying the best quality equipment, goods, and services for the company at the most competitive prices. Preferred qualities of a purchaser include the following: The ability to negotiate and manage vendors and sales, network and effectively deal with numbers.

  PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to
  • Accurately forecast levels of product based upon supply and demand that will need to be met and to serve the changing needs of our customers
  • Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of value
  • Must be a high quality / high energy liaison between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and most importantly customers
  • Handle invoices, credits, and special programs; and properly organize and maintain them for future reference
  • Performing cost updates and communicating them with sales and management
  • Occasionally attend meetings and trade conferences and shows

  • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree
  • Minimum 2 year of relevant work experience (not required)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, and other software for general business applications
  • Knowledge of building materials and systems strongly recommended
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast paced environment with a professional manner focused on team building

  • Excellent vision for planning of controllable information by utilizing supply chain management, tracking budgets and trends, vendor relationships, customer service, documentation skills, manufacturing methods and quality, and cost accounting
  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking
  • Ability to successfully interact with all internal and external customers
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines
  • Strong leadership and presentation skills.
  • Ability to apply business math
  • Must complete pre-employment testing
